The new Maquette is listed at 23" tall. The original dio is about 13" tall.

pre-order time. gotta make my mind...and it's a no go. No regrets at all. I don't like the arms, the base, the size , it's too close to the dio design and it doesn't pack enough wow factor for a $800 price tag. This is my kick in da ball to SS. You can kiss my dollars good bye. And I hope most of the fans will do the same and we might deliver SS a clear and strong message: Do not mess with us alien fans!!! You want my money, you gotta earn it "GAME OVER MAN"

Those shots gives justice to the sculpture fantastic job. The tail area on this one is so much better than the dio. It's loaded with tons of details and the paint app is awesome. But I really don't like the feet (even knowing it is screen accurate), no match with the overall alien design. Strangely the frontal part of the dome seems wider than it should be. Thank you trilogy and THX217 for the photos.

Looking at the uncanny similarity between the smaller diorama and this new piece, I wonder if the original sculpt actually exists in the virtual world. I'm thinking it was actually sculpted in Zbrush and output using a 3D printer. I'm also thinking this because I saw a work in progress sculpt if Optimus Prime from Sideshow that was clearly a Zbrush screenshot (even had the default red wax material. Being a professional Zbrush artist myself I recognize it anywhere) Just a hunch.

I have to admit...it's a beautiful piece...even if it is so close to the smaller dio sculpt. But that price!

...I'm thinking it was actually sculpted in Zbrush and output using a 3D printer... I don't think so. This maquette have a lot more details you won't find on the dio (like where the tail is attached to the body) and a couple of differences in the sculpture (like the feet).

Maybe so, youre probably right but for the record, taking an already existing zbrush sculpt and resculpting the feet is pretty easy. If this is in fact digital in origin the tail could be a separate subtool that can be added separately. It was this picture that got me thinking of the possibility of digital origins. This is clearly zbrush. Anyway, I'll shut up

I have to admit that after looking at some of these fantastic pics of the statue, I am liking it more and more. But the price is going to keep me away. That's just too high even for a piece this large with this level of detail. And the base is a real turnoff. I like the one in the dio much better.
Now, if I could only sell one of my kids on Ebay and generate some cash....

Pose makes it look like it has long monkey arms. Price is insane in this weak, fooking economy.

I dont want to be guilty of "kicking a dead horse" here but I have spent a tremendous amount of time going back over this thread in the hopes that there is something that will push me over the top and order this statue. There is no question that it has lots of appealing features, details etc. but the size in relation to the cost is killing me. While my collection is not as large as others for sure, I am not opposed to purchasing a unique or highly desirable piece when it comes along (or drops down from the rafters) but so much of this statue consists of the base and 800,00 dollars plus shipping just seems unreasonable. The closeup snaps are amazing not withstanding weaknesses in the paintjob but for this kind of money, I want something that will blow me away from across the room. Am I being unrealistic?
Anyway, I had to add my two cents especially after my wife has just caught me drooling over this thread once again at three in the morning...

Same for me. I just could not justify the price for what I would get. Maybe someday in the future...when I have $800 to burn and nothing else I want.

Like many on here I like it but I don't love it. For such an eagerly awaited piece I think SS could have put a lot more effort and imagination into it than simply recycling the dio pose. And why do sculptors of Aliens statues insist on always having the inner jaws projecting? That's something that happens at the moment of kill, not when the creature is stalking, as this one is clearly supposed to be. Having the jaws extended in that pose makes it look like the Alien is leaning over to throw up - not a good look!
With some judicious lighting I'm sure the statue could be made to look good, but it's certainly not the Aliens warrior we all wanted.

No Warrior figure comes close to the Palisades signature beauty, considering the size, accuracy, pose & brilliance of it and the price, i got mine brand new for £50, unbeatable value.

It looks green. And what the fook? Every maquette on their site is sold out!?!?! That's why the quality is in the shooter. People buy it up anyway.

What's up with that A3 maquette in that picture with the cinemaquette predator? Is the polystone starting to sag?It has support on the tail and the knee, that's disappointing.I hope they all don't do that!
