"I bought the head in its raw form on Ebay. I finished it by painting it. Its made of latex rubber with a solid foam core. I never seen one before or since"

There are actually a couple of different versions of this.

There's a smooth domed version (seen in the video) and a ridged head version with extended tongue.

Both are EXTREMELY limited edition masks, based on Takeya's sculpt of the Alien
Can't remember the sculptor of the masks off hand though.

Here's a few pics of each version...

Are these available for purchase anywhere? Or are they kinda just a rare thing that pops up once in a while on Ebay?

No, these aren't available anymore.

I've seen only a couple of them pop up for sale in the last several years.
So, if you see one, you'd better get it.  You might not ever see another.

Just a bit of info: this was sculpted by a guy named Harry Inman.  I believe that it was originally for sale through him and Monsters in Motion (good luck dealing with them).  There were plans, I believe, to release a fiberglass version, but it never happened.  It's a really cool piece, though.

This may be the one that I used to see in the Monsters In Motion catalogs long ago.I still have the old color catalogs they sent somewhere. After skullsoldier mentioned his post it reminded me of the ones in those catalogs.

Hi yall Alien fans,

Long time collector ( ahh lurker  smile ) finally dropping in.  Skullsoldier is right.  Harry Inman used to produce masks out of his garage and this Takeya Alien was one of them.  You could even choose the paint scheme.  Was a great guy to deal with.  Last I heard he got hired to sculpt Star Wars masks.

How many of you got the vintage Distortions Alien mask?  jaw drop
Probably more nostalgic/I guess historic than current Sideshow one.

Welcome to The Hive Ali En.  cheers

Thanks for the additional info on this fantastic mask.
I'd love to find one myself someday.

I too, would love to hear if anyone has the Distortions mask.
Man, I wish I'd known enough to snag one of those years ago, when they first came out.  gaah!

Correct you are,and for $75 you can order it from Lil Monsters.Let me know if you need Randy`s contact info for the bust.I bought one a few months ago,and the castings were super clean, and the sculpting style looks kinda like Takeya`s Alien.I`ve been ordering kits from Lil Monsters since 1990,and always excellent service.I have Randy`s phone #,so if you want to order any of his kits send me a pm.

Again, time for a little thread resurrection.

Not long after this thread was started, I was contacted by someone from the Statue Forum who had one of these he was looking to sell.

Of course, I couldn't pass it up.  shifty

I've had it for a while, but have been hesitant about posting pics as it's REALLY hard to take pics of...it's so big.

It won't even fit in my BIG photo tent, and I don't have the lighting to take a good pic out of the tent.

So, here's the best of the really bad pics I was able to take.  I hope you all still enjoy them.
There's a pic with a 2 liter of soda for scale.

Enjoy...

I'd love them to use this design in a movie eventually.

Yeah, I'd love to see this used on film as well.

I'm really impressed by Harry Inman's ability to capture Takeya's design on such a large scale.
It really is almost a dead on likeness of Takeya's sculpt.
